Bio
Heather Gallagher is a children’s author, book reviewer and award-winning journalist. She is passionate about children’s literacy and works as a writer-in-residence in disadvantaged primary schools for the educational charity, Good Shepherd, and as a Hokey-Pokey pro for Geelong libraries.
Her debut picture book, Happy Pants (Wombat Books, 2014) was a recommended title in the Australian Family Therapists awards for Children’s Literature. Her latest picture book, Scaredy Cat, is based on her anxious dog, Pip. Her debut middle grade novel My Brother, The Orangutan is forthcoming with Stag Beetle Books.
Heather is a graduate of RMIT’s Professional Writing and Editing degree. She’s a professional member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Julie Hedlund’s 12 x 12 Picture Book Challenge and the US-based writing community, Inked Voices. She is also a long-term reviewer for the CBCA’s Reading Time.
Heather lives by the sea with her family and four feisty chickens.
